What is the NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation?

Human factors.
You study organisational, job and individual factors. You learn the difference between human error and violation. You cover routine, situational and exceptional violations. You find practical ways to reduce human failure.
Witness interviewing.
You prepare properly and run the interview using the PEACE model. You practise questioning and active listening. You handle unwilling witnesses. You work around language and cultural barriers, which matters on a multinational Saudi worksite.

NEBOSH Incident Investigation Course Structure
The NEBOSH Incident Investigation course is a 10-hour programme delivered in three stages: 3 hours of pre-course self-study, 6 hours of live instructor-led training, and a 1-hour assessment.
Stage 1: Pre-course self-study (3 hours)
Before your class begins, we share the official course materials with you. You work through these in your own time so you arrive with a working knowledge of incident investigation principles. This means classroom hours are spent applying the material, not introducing it.
Stage 2: Live instructor-led class (6 hours)
You then join 6 hours of direct training with our qualified trainers. This is the core of the course, covering investigation methodology, evidence gathering, root cause analysis, and how to reach conclusions that stand up to scrutiny. Sessions are interactive, so you can raise real incidents from your own workplace.
Stage 3: Templates, videos, and assessment (1 hour)
After the class, you receive two investigation templates and supporting videos. You review the video material and complete your assignment within one hour. This assessment is what confirms you can apply the investigation process, not just describe it.
